Workshop Description

Liberally peppered with case studies and videos, this workshop will provide comprehensive guidance regarding the use of EMDR in treating OCD including particular issues that are specific to working with this client population.

After an introduction to OCD, Robin will discuss when EMDR can be used ‘neat’ in treating OCD or when it needs to be combined with other therapeutic approaches such as CBT. He will explain the importance of case formulation and how this will inform the target memories that are chosen and the order in which these are processed – not always past-present-future as in the standard protocol. He will look at particular considerations when using EMDR with children who have OCD.

A major part of the workshop will be a description and demonstration of the Flashforward procedure, on which Robin has taught and published an oft-cited paper in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research. This will be explained in detail with case examples and video demonstrations and participants will be given an exercise into help them to fully understand the procedure.
